Michael Q. Jones, Chairman of the Board

Michael Q. Jones is Chairman of the Board and founder of California Gold.  He is the fourth generation of building contractors in his family, but the first to add development of projects to the general contracting business.  He began working in construction in San Francisco as a young man and quickly became a union carpenter and foreman.  In 1971 he was hired as a construction manager for Hyatt Corporation and worked on the Union Square Hyatt Hotel in San Francisco.

In 1973 Mike moved to Tuolumne County, founded Michael Q. Jones Construction and began building custom homes.  His reputation as an honest, fair and expert builder has made him a leader in the community.   He sits on numerous local government and civic committees.  Mike is currently a board member of Oak Valley Community Bank and Sierra Repertory Theatre.  He is past president of the Tuolumne County Building Industry and past director and charter member of the Tuolumne County General Hospital Foundation.  He is also a past member of the citizen’s advisory board for Columbia College and past President of the Sonora 49er Rotary Club.
